ACADEMIC OR GENERAL

IELTS is divided into two categories: Academic and General Training. The Listening and Speaking tests are the same for everyone, but the Reading and Writing tests are not.


IELTS Academic


The IELTS Academic examination is designed for students who intend to study at a university or in an English-speaking environment for further education.

The test takers have to complete the Listening, Reading and Writing sections in one sitting without any break.

Test Duration: 2 hours and 45 minutes (Listening, Reading and Writing)

IELTS Listening –30 minutes

IELTS Reading – 60 minutes

IELTS Speaking – 11-14 minutes


IELTS Listening

Paper Based IELTS Listening: (30 Minutes + 10 Minutes to transfer the answers) = 40 Minutes

Computer delivered IELTS Listening: (30 Minutes + 2 Minutes to review) = 32 Minutes

A 30-minute audio recording will be played during which you will be writing answers to a series of 40 questions (4 parts with 10 questions each).

Part 1: Two speakers will be talking (Routine and social talk, Social context)

Part 2: A single person will be speaking (Every day life situation, Social Context)

Part 3: Atleast two and up to four speakers (Educational Discussion, Academic Conext)

Part 4: A single speaker usually delivers a lecture. (Academic)
