The graphs below show the enrolments of overseas students and local students in Australian universities between 1989 and 1999.

The provided line charts illustrate the enrolment trends of international and domestic students in various universities in Australia from 1989 to 1999.

In terms of international students, the number of commencing students in Australian universities was at its lowest point in 1989, with approximately 75,000 students. However, the total number of international students reached its peak in the same year, with around 20,000 students. Over the next five years, there was a significant surge in the figures for overseas students, with the number increasing from 20,000 in 1989 to over 80,000 in 1994. The trend for commencing students also experienced an upward trajectory, peaking at approximately 42,000 in 1999.

Shifting the focus to domestic students, the enrolment figures for regional students who commenced their studies fluctuated throughout the entire period. By 1999, the number of regional students had surpassed 200,000. The total number of regional students increased considerably from 400,000 in 1989 to 600,000 in 1997, before stabilizing at 600,000 in 1999.

In conclusion, the number of international students remained relatively low compared to domestic students throughout the given period.

                      The presented line charts provide information about the enrolments of international and local students in distinct universities in Australia from 1989 to 1999.

                           In terms of overseas students, in 1989, around 75,000 students, who were commencing, enrolled in Australian universities, which was the lowest figure, whereas the total number of international students amounted to 20,000, which was the highest in that year. The trend for total and commencing students went upwards sharply. Between 1989 and 1994, the figures for overseas students surged significantly from 20,000 to 40,000 and it increased to a high of more than 80,000 in the next 5 years. The number of commencing students went up between around 75,000 in 1989 and approximately 42,000 in 1999.

                                Turning to local students, the trend for regional students, who started their studies, fluctuated throughout the whole period and the figure reached over 200,000 in 1999. The total number of regional students increased considerably, from 400,000 in 1989 to 600,000 in 1997, before levelling to 600,000 in 1999.

                                 To sum up, the figures for overseas students stood at the lowest, while for local students, they remained the highest over the given period.

                              The line graphs compare the number of overseas and local students who were enrolled at universities across Australia for the period ranging from 1989 to 1999.

                         Regarding international students, the number surged erratically from 10,000 (1989) to just above forty thousand (1999). The more the new students came, the higher the figures went up in total. That is why the number in total was on the rise, which stood at 20,000 in 1989, crossed 50 in 1995, before peaking at over 80,000 in the last given year.

                          Focusing on local data, it can be noted that the figures for newcomers stayed around 200,000 throughout the ten years, while the total number increased gradually. Initially, the number was at 4,00,000 and subsequently increased by 50% to 6,00,000 in 1999.

                      In summary, local student numbers were ten times higher than those of overseas students in both types (new and overall) of students.
