Sample Answer

The first time I spoke in a foreign language was during a trip to Jaipur. I was with a group of friends, and we decided to visit a local market to buy some souvenirs. As we were browsing, a shopkeeper approached us and started speaking in English.

I was surprised to hear him speaking English so fluently and with a perfect accent. I had always assumed that people in India primarily spoke Hindi or other regional languages. The shopkeeper told us that he had learned English in school and had been practicing it with tourists for many years.

We started talking about the items in the shop, and the shopkeeper was very helpful in explaining their origin and meaning. I was impressed by his knowledge of the products and his ability to communicate effectively in English.

As we were leaving the shop, I felt a sense of pride in being able to communicate in a foreign language. It was a unique experience, and it made me appreciate the diversity and richness of Indian culture even more. I also realized how important it is to learn different languages and to be open to new experiences.

Overall, the experience was both eye-opening and rewarding. I felt grateful for the opportunity to interact with someone from a different culture and to practice my language skills in a real-life setting.
