The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.

                   The line chart illustrates the proportion of the population aged 65 and above in three distinct countries from 1940 to 2020, as well as projected projections through 2040.

                  In 1940, the United States had the greatest percentage of individuals aged 65 and over, followed by Sweden and Japan. The United States had the highest proportion of individuals aged 65 and over, with Japan having the lowest proportion. In 1940, Sweden's percentage was around 7 percent. The proportion of Americans aged 65 and above increased steadily until it reached 10% in 1960, surpassing Sweden by 2 percentage points. In the year 2000, the trend between the United States and Sweden shifted. Sweden's share of the population varied erratically and eventually reached 18 percent, surpassing the United States by three percentage points in 2020. As of 2020, Japan's share of the population aged 65 and above was 7 percent.

                     In terms of demographic projections for the future, it is projected that the proportion of the population aged 65 and above in Japan will reach 27 percent by 2040, exceeding the proportions in the United States (23%) and Sweden (25%).

                To summarize, the proportion of elderly people in the United States of America and Sweden varied significantly over time, while the numbers in Japan rose steadily.

                   The line chart gives information about the percentage of the population aged 65 and over in three different nations from 1940 to 2020 and also shows the future predictions up to 2040.

                     Regarding the proportion of people who, aged 65 and above, lived in the USA, Sweden and Japan, in 1940, 8% of Americans were the highest, whereas only 5% were the lowest in proportion. The figures for Sweden stood at around 7 per cent in 1940. The percentage of Americans rose gradually to 10 per cent in 1960, before exceeding Sweden by 2 per cent. In 2000, the trend reversed between the USA and Sweden. The proportion of Sweden fluctuated fitfully and reached 18%, which surpassed the USA in terms of population by 3% in 2020. The figure for Japan accounted for 7% in 2020.

                       Turning to the future prediction of the population, it is estimated that the percentage of the population aged 65 and over in Japan is likely to peak at 27 per cent, before surpassing the USA (23%) and Sweden (25%) in 2040.

                 To summarise, we can see that the percentage of old people in the USA and Sweden fluctuated dramatically, whereas the figures for Japan increased gradually over the given period.

                    The presented line graph provides information about the percentage of the population aged 65 and above in Japan, Sweden and the USA from 1940 to 2040.

                       Regarding the population aged 65 and over, 8% of Americans were in 1940, which was the greatest proportion, while only 5% of Japanese accounted in the same year, which was the lowest figure. The figures for the population of Sweden stood at around 7% in 1940, and it rose considerably to 13% in 1980, before fluctuating dramatically. The proportion of the population in the USA surged from 10% in 1960 to 15% in 2020.

                 Turning to future predictions, it is estimated that the proportion of the population aged 65 and over in all three countries will increase erratically in the upcoming 20 years, and Japan will peak in the population, the USA will remain the lowest.

                  To summarize, we can see that the trend for the USA and Sweden in terms of the population went up and down wildly.
