BAND 6

There is little doubt that the last 15 years have witnessed a greater rise in pollution than the preceding 30 years. Some people opine that the increasing number of cars causes pollution in the environment. Others believe that industries cause more pollution. My essay tends to dwell upon both views.

Indeed, there are numerous reasons for the increasing number of cars. One of the most important is public transport. To put it another way, many people face problems when they have to visit their workplace; moreover, sometimes they get late as well as do not get a seat on the bus or train. Additionally, most people prefer to buy their own car because they feel relaxed as well as they do not have to wait for buses and trains.

According to a survey conducted by the Times of India, 70% of people in Germany prefer to visit their location by using local trains because they are very economical as well as safer to travel. Hence, the government should improve public transport so that the amount of pollution might be reduced.

On the other hand, most industries are opened in public places, which pollute the environment. Government officials should issue the license to those industries which are opening in the countryside. Consequently, by this step, the amount of pollution might decrease; furthermore, people can easily travel by their vehicles.

To conclude, I believe that the government should organise a campaign so that people become aware of increasing pollution.

BAND 7

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the amount of pollution, which cannot be denied. People are divided on the subject of rising pollution, with some believing that a considerable number of automobiles on the road is to blame for the problem. Others, on the other hand, believe that industrial waste is one of the most important factors contributing to the increase in pollution.

Indeed, having a car has been a symbol of social standing in recent years. As a result, there has been a considerable increase in the number of automobiles on the road, particularly in urban areas. As a consequence, the level of pollution is rising on a daily basis, and the air we breathe is becoming toxic, which is extremely hazardous to people's health. As a result, hospitals in many nations are overflowing with people suffering from lung illnesses. The Times of India, for example, published the results of a poll that revealed that the number of automobiles in India had more than tripled in the previous five years. As a result, the air pollution index has risen to more than 400.

Others, on the other hand, think that industrialization is the most important factor contributing to the increase in pollution and waste in the environment. Indeed, manufacturers discharge their waste into rivers, producing water pollution that has a negative impact on the life of animals. Aside from this, industries also release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which contributes to the loss of the ozone layer and, ultimately, to global warming.

In conclusion, after debating both perspectives, I believe that both industry and the growing number of automobiles are equally responsible for the rising amount of pollution.

BAND 5.5 (248 Words)

There is no denying the fact that the level of pollution has increased a lot in the last few years. The issue of increasing pollution is controversial among people because some believe that a significant number of cars on the roads are responsible. In contrast, others opine that industrial waste is one of the top reasons for doubling the amount of pollution.

Indeed, owning a car has become a social status nowadays. Therefore, a significant surge can be seen in the number of cars on the streets, especially in metropolitan cities. As a result, the pollution level is increasing day by day, and the breathable air is becoming poisonous, which is very harmful to people's health. That is why hospitals are packed with patients with lung diseases in many countries. For example, a survey was conducted by the Times of India, which reveals that the number of cars in India trebled in the last five years. Consequently, the air pollution index is more than 400.

On the other hand, others believe that industrialisation is the first and foremost reason for increasing pollution and waste. Indeed, factories dump their waste into the rivers, causing water pollution that affects animals' lives. Greenhouse gases are also released by factories into the air, resulting in the depletion of the ozone layer, resulting in global warming.

To conclude, after discussing both views, I can say that both industries and the increasing number of cars are equally responsible for the increasing level of pollution.
