BAND 7

There is little room for doubt that the last 15 years have witnessed more changes in the curriculum of universities than in the preceding 30 years. Some individuals opine that universities should teach general knowledge and moral values to students, which play essential roles in their lives. Others believe that universities should only train students in their respective skills to become successful in the future. The essay will discuss the statements in the upcoming paragraphs, along with my opinion.

Indeed, there are numerous upsides to teaching general knowledge and moral values to university pupils. One of the most significant positives is that they can become good human beings. To put it another way, they might behave politely and respectfully with others if they develop ethical skills. Moreover, they also gain knowledge about almost every field of study, which might be helpful in their future lives. For example, in the first year of engineering studies, students of all streams attain knowledge about all engineering streams because they can implement their skills in future projects.

On the other hand, there is no denying the fact that most people have their own specialization in a particular field. For instance, artists do painting, IT engineers develop computer applications and so on. Therefore, universities should train pupils according to their interests because this would help them build their careers in their respective fields, and they might have a greater probability of getting jobs. According to a survey conducted by the Times of India, 70% of students, who have been studying in colleges or universities, prefer to go for industrial training rather than studying theoretical subjects in the final year.

To conclude, it seems to me that universities should provide training facilities for students to improve their skills rather than teaching general knowledge, which they have already studied at school.

BAND 7

There is little doubt that the last 15 years have witnessed more changes in the education system than the preceding 30 years. Some people opine that universities should provide better education so that candidates can enhance their knowledge. Others believe that universities should train students to do social work. My essay tends to dwell upon both views.

Indeed, there are numerous upsides to getting a good education. One of the most important is the increase in the level of knowledge. To put it another way, by getting a good education from universities, students get a chance to enhance their skills. Added to this is that they might also be aware of practical skills, which means that students might love to study more practical subjects than theoretical. According to a survey conducted by the Times of India, 70% of candidates in the USA got a better job opportunity because they had practical skills as well as the ability to understand the work.

On the other hand, there is no denying the fact that universities should also train their students to do social work, which means they might get a chance to experience different platforms. Moreover, they may also get an opportunity to learn more about their culture and ethics. Research shows that, 40% of people in the UK are not aware of their culture and values. Consequently, universities should motivate their candidates to do the jobs which are required by society.

To conclude, I believe universities provide education not only in practical form but also in theoretical form so that students can increase their knowledge.
