                     The chart provides information on the post-secondary courses chosen by both women and men in Australia for the year 1999.

       To begin with, almost 90 percent of men chose a skilled vocational diploma, which was an 80 percentage point increase above the number of women who chose the same path. Women accounted for 70 percent of those who received an undergraduate diploma, a greater proportion than males at the time of publication (35 percent). The percentage of women who selected a bachelor's degree was 50 percent, which was 5 percent more than the proportion of men who chose the same degree.

                When it comes to postgraduate diploma and Master's degree programs, males were more likely than women to choose a postgraduate diploma program in 1999. The percentage of women choosing postgraduate diplomas was lower than that of men. When it comes to Master's degree programs, about 60 percent of men enrolled, which was a 20 percent increase above the women's participation rate of 40 percent.

               Regarding women, 72%, being the highest in proportion, was for undergraduate diploma, while 9%, being the lowest, was for skilled vocational diploma. The figure for postgraduate diplomas stood at 30%. More women (40%) completed their master’s degree than postgraduate diploma (30%).

            Turning to figures for men, the highest proportion of men with a skilled vocational diploma was 90%, whereas the figure for men who held a postgraduate diploma was 70%. The proportion of people who had a master’s degree was two times higher than that of a bachelor’s degree. Surprisingly, less than 40% of men had the ability to hold an undergraduate diploma.

         In summary, it can be seen that women made up the highest proportion of post-school qualifications, while men made up the lowest proportion. The proportion of people who were able to complete a skilled vocational diploma and undergraduate diploma was higher than other qualifications.
